Storage

The mail.msu.edu system has five and one-half Terabytes of storage capacity that is controlled by a single NetApp FAS980 file server.

Frontends

Each of the frontend machines consists of the following configuration:
    Dell PowerEdge 2650
  • 2.4GHZ Pentium 4 Xeon processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 18GB 15k rpm SCSI drives
  • Dual onboard Broadcom network controllers
    Dell PowerEdge 1750
  • Dual 2.8GHZ Pentium 4 Xeon processors
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 18GB 15k rpm SCSI drives
  • Dual onboard Broadcom network controllers

Database

The mail.msu.edu system also utilizes a number of database machines that contain user information vital to the operation of mail.msu.edu. These database machines are identical to the frontend machines with one main exception, their disk storage consists of mirrored 18GB drives with Dell Perc3DC RAID controllers.
